About
Tony has more than 14 years of industry experience, during which he has accumulated extensive knowledge delivering a diverse range of small to large scale projects of varying complexity. Typologies include commercial, education, public, health and infrastructure.
In his role as Senior Associate, Tony has contributed to concept designs of significant buildings and led teams to deliver complex and challenging projects. He also leads the Tzannes Regenerative Futures Strategy Group. Guided by his passion for the environment, Tony drives the internal and external environmental performance of the practice. He is constantly seeking opportunities to minimize the ecological impact of all active projects across the Tzannes portfolio.
Tony strongly acknowledges the inability of incumbent building practices to address the unfolding climate crisis and actively seeks to advocate for a shift towards a more conscious and regenerative form of architectural practice.
Tony delivered two mass timber commercial buildings at Barangaroo – Daramu House and International House, both in a senior capacity. Collectively the buildings have been recognised by over 25 local and international industry awards for their architectural merit, sustainability achievements, inventiveness as well as their role in pioneering and normalising a new low carbon building technology.
He also contributed to the design and documentation for a third mass timber building for the University of NSW. His other education experience includes the Sustainable Building Research Centre for the University of Wollongong, another highly recognised building which has recently become one of only 27 buildings in the world to receive full Living Building Challenge certification.
Tony is a contributing Partner Investigator on the ARC Advance Timber Hub and aims to assist the cross-disciplinary team with driving broader adoption of mass timber within the Australian market.
